ABOUT RULA
Rula A. Muñoz (she/her) is a multi-hyphenate theater artist who works as a director, producer, performer and writer. Born and raised in Mexico City, from a very young age, she knew she wanted to be a storyteller. She believes there is no single way to be a storyteller and has been able to tell stories from different roles.
Throughout her career, she has worked with artists such as David R. Gammons, Donja R. Love, Eugenio Derbez, Igor Golyak, Tonasia Jones, Lola Cortés, Michelle “Micha” Rodríguez, Mónica Huarte, Tim Miller, among others, both in her home country and in the United States.
She holds a BFA in Contemporary Theatre from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, an Advanced Directing diploma from the National Theater Institute at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center, and she is an alumni from the PEN America DREAMing Out Loud Playwriting program.
Rula is a former member of the Artistic Collective of the National Queer Theatre, a current Fornés Institute member, and is part of the Steering Committee of the Latinx Theatre Commons.
NYC theater credits include working at companies such as The Bushwick Starr, MCC Theater, National Queer Theatre, ¡Oye! Group, Repertorio Español, The Sol Project, TOSOS. Regional credits: Central Square Theater, Orlando Fringe Festival, SpeakEasy Stage.
